Early-Summer Turf Protection
Timing, purpose, and expectations for this application.
How This Application Works
This is the first of two "combo" applications exclusive to the Turf Protection program, and it's where the real preventative value of that program becomes apparent. This application combines three separate treatments into a single visit: weed-control spot treatment, preventative fungicide to protect against summer fungal diseases, and granular fertilizer to maintain nutrition.
The fungicide component is where this application truly distinguishes itself from the Base Program. Summer heat and humidity in Iowa create perfect conditions for fungal diseases like brown patch, dollar spot, summer patch, and pythium blight.
These diseases can devastate a lawn in days, and once symptoms appear (dead patches, rings, discolored areas), significant damage has already occurred. Curative fungicide treatments after infection are expensive, require multiple applications, and still may not save the damaged turf.
Preventative fungicide, applied before infection, creates a protective barrier that stops fungal spores from establishing. It's dramatically more effective and more economical than trying to cure disease after the fact.
Combined with weed control and fertilizer, this single application is doing three jobs - maintaining nutrition, controlling weeds during heat stress, and preventing disease before it starts.
Benefits
- Protects against summer fungal outbreaks.
- Controls weeds while turf is heat-stressed.
- Delivers nutrition in the same visit.
What to Expect
Before
Summer disease pressure is rising and weeds need targeted control.
After
Turf is protected against fungus while staying fed and weed-free.
