Summer Slow-Release Granular Fertilizer
Timing, purpose, and expectations for this application.
How This Application Works
Applied in mid-summer (June-July), this fertilizer application is specifically formulated with slow-release nitrogen to maintain your lawn's color, density, and overall health without forcing excessive top growth during summer heat. This is a completely different approach than spring fertilization.
In spring, we want rapid growth and green-up. In summer, we want steady maintenance nutrition without stimulating the kind of vigorous growth that increases water demand, heat stress, and disease susceptibility.
Fast-release fertilizer in summer is asking your grass to grow rapidly during the worst possible time - it's like asking someone to run a marathon in 100-degree heat. Slow-release formulations provide a steady trickle of nutrients over 8-10 weeks, keeping the grass fed and healthy without forcing it to work harder than it should during stress.
This maintains color and helps provide nutrients, decreasing the likelihood of it going dormant — still ultimately dependent on moisture levels — while helping it resist disease, and excess top growth that come from aggressive summer feeding. The grass stays green and reasonably dense, but it's not being pushed beyond its stress tolerance during the hottest months.
Benefits
- Sustains color and density in heat.
- Avoids excessive growth.
- Feeds steadily over 8-10 weeks.
What to Expect
Before
