Spring Weed Control & Pre-emergent
Timing, purpose, and expectations for this application.
How This Application Works
Applied in late spring or early summer (April-May), this is a liquid application two-fold purpose. First, it kills visible broadleaf weeds like dandelions, clover, and plantain that have already germinated and are actively growing in your lawn.
Second, it adds a second layer of pre-emergent herbicide to reinforce the barrier created by the first spring application, extending protection during the peak crabgrass germination window. Spring weather in Iowa is notoriously unpredictable - we can get early warm spells that trigger germination, then cold snaps, then more warmth.
This application ensures that even if our early spring timing was slightly off or if germination happened in waves, we still maintain control. The reason this costs more than standard weed control is because it's literally doing the work of multiple products in a single application - it's more concentrated and more labor-intensive than a standard weed spray.
Benefits
- Eliminates active broadleaf weeds.
- Reinforces the pre-emergent barrier.
What to Expect
